#MYHUSTL WITH CHALLENGE WINNER, ROSLYN.

Welcome to our blog series #MyHustl with, where each month we will feature a community member to find out more about their journey, how they like to HUSTL. and for a special insight into their world. The community makes HUSTL. what it is and you all truly mean the world to me, so I am excited to share an insight into the incredible individuals that make up this strong, beautiful and inspiring community. I love you, Alexz. xo

Meet Roslyn, Hustl.Online Member and Mindful March Challenge Winner.

Tell us a little about yourself & your fitness journey.
I’m not your average HUSTL girl, I’m 45 and working on a wellness journey.

I have been training at least 5 days a week for over 6 years now. I began when I was weighing in at 110kg and didn’t want to continue the lifestyle I was living. At that time, I spent a year and a half in a group fitness gym and just before covid hit I was 79kg. Everything changed for me at that time, I would train every day, walk, however most of my training was weight based that I did, and in Melbourne at that time finding weights was harder than finding gold. The foods I was buying for my health were scarce and I got into my old habits defaulting back to the foods that were available. After covid I started a group fitness gym that was very athletic, and it probably wasn’t the best decision for me. They are a great gym, the staff completely awesome I was just starting to get injuries knowing it wasn’t normal.

Then I got a cyst on my back that became infected and required emergency surgery. The recovery was a journey, I had some setbacks mainly due to me trying to train with the injury (I know, I know.) I was doing a challenge with Alexz on her other fitness App and desperately wanted to finish it. My doctor said I could do non weighted lower body and when I investigated Alexz training, I found HUSTL, saw Kika with the booty band and knew it would be the ideal place for me to be able to train again to the capacity the doctor had allowed me to. From there I just loved my introduction back to training HIIT, FORM, PACE light weight and it felt good to have the HUSTL platform that supported me at that time. I have to mention, I got a chance to meet Kika in Melboune and train in a circuit style HUSTL class and it was just something else! Alexz and Kika had to deal with me having a bit of an anxiety attack mainly because I was so nervous and they were so, so supportive. It was the first positive experience I had had in a very long time.

How did you feel winning the Challenge?
I never thought I would win a challenge first of all. I had just come out of strength class and hit a PB of 22.5kg DB Bench Press and this news just topped my day! This challenge out of all the ones I have done I knew was going to be tough. I can’t handstand and there were some other things I couldn’t do but Duncan’s guidance to lengthy holds of positions gave me strength, in particular the Dolphin Pose. Day One I couldn’t raise my top leg in plank, by Friday I could. Every day was so different on the mat, I’d have extremely good days, sore days and one day I got emotional and I have no idea how that flow brought on the feelings I had that day. I learnt so much about myself delving into Jordanna’s podcast and Caitlyn’s meditations, quieting my busy mind letting it shut off for a moment.

One piece of advice you would share with the community?
The biggest bit of advice comes from the HUSTL. trainers themselves. The mindset loop: When it gets too hard, go back to simply moving daily, drink water, eat protein (and I added) schedule your training, food shop/prep in advance so you don’t fall into bad habits.

I love Em’s quote about enjoying the process, live for the life you have dreamed of and take action steps to maintain them.

There is a method to working through muscle soreness provided it is not an actual injury. Show up when you need to, take the regressed option if needed. I've hit the pause button with Chelsea at times, to allow me to have more of a breather so I could do each of her sets to their full time.

What do you love most about HUSTL.?
√ Each trainer brings something different and unique to the Platform.
√ The Wellness portion which has helped me begin to fix my Hormone imbalance and various other health issues I have been having.
√ The support and encouragement from the trainers.
√ The booty and core burns are elite! Just when I think you Angels have given it all, you find a new way to burn those areas!
