Hi Lotti, congratulations on your beautiful baby boy Bobby! How are you and how have you found the journey into motherhood so far?
Being a mum is the most beautiful but also the hardest thing I've ever experienced. It's like driving in two lanes at the same time, it's like being the most of everything and the least of everything. The capacity for feeling sh***, because you haven't had a full night's sleep in a while, is so much more than you could ever imagine. But then the same applies to the other way. The capacity of feeling so much joy, so grateful, so happy and so much LOVE, goes beyond being able to explain. To sum it up I LOVE BEING A MUM, Bobby is honestly my little best friend. But I am also honest, some days are very hard.
What is your favourite thing about being a mother?
The overwhelming feeling of love explosions in my heart I experience when Bobby giggles, says Mama or learns something new. The fact that Carl and I have created this little human and that he is OURS forever.
What are your top health & wellness tips postpartum?
Take all this with a grain of salt Mamas because some days I nail these and others I do not.
- Morning walk or Pilates a non negotiable
- Ice bath - every morning for my mental clarity
- Hydration - I have to have ice cold water with me everywhere I go. There are so many amazing hydration sups out there to support mums postpartum especially when you are breastfeeding
- Self care when Bobby is in bed. I am a sucker for a good skin care routine followed by icing and using my Gua Sha tool on my face & neck
Since becoming a mum, what does your current exercise routine look like on an average week?
I had an emergency C section so for the first 6 weeks I had to be careful with my movements. But I started going on ocean walks literally as soon as I got home from the hospital. Now I walk daily and do a combination of Pilates and weight training.
I am very passionate about Pilates and believe it is the best form of movement especially postpartum.
If you could share one piece of advice you have gained from motherhood, what would it be?
Be present with your baby and stop doubting your abilities of being a good mum. I honestly think there is so much pressure on mums. Becoming a mum is a huge life change not just physically but mostly mentally. Give yourself some time to adjust and do not think you have to know it all. Honestly we are all just doing our best and we are all no experts. Find yourself a good community of mumma’s and you’ve got this.
How will you be spending Mother’s Day this year?
A pizza picnic by the beach with boys!
Love to my fellow Moms xx
