THE POWER OF MEDITATION.

Do you ever feel like you just need a reset? To take 5 minutes in your day to catch your breath and ground yourself? Well my angels, I may just have the answer. Meditation.

Meditating is something everyone can practise anywhere or anytime to improve both your mental and emotional health, literally in just a couple of minutes. I know it isn’t for everyone, but the positive impacts it can have are undeniable.

I’ll be the first to admit, I don’t always prioritise meditating in my daily routine, but when I do, it honestly makes such a difference and leaves me feeling so much calmer.

Still not convinced? Here are 5 reasons why meditation is a powerful tool you should incorporate into your every day:

1. reduces stress

This is probably the most common reason people turn to meditation - to reduce and manage stress in our everyday lives.

When we’re feeling stressed, whether that be mentally or physically, our bodies produce an increased amount of cortisol, the stress hormone which can affect our sleep, blood pressure and mind clarity. Studies show that people who regularly meditate have lower levels of cortisol, improving their resilience in stressful situations.

2. improves self-awareness
Meditation encourages us to slow down and become aware of our thoughts, allowing us to develop a stable awareness over time. This means we aren’t so easily caught up in, or thrown by, thoughts and emotions.

3. increases your focus and attention span
When we’re busy doing multiple things at once, our attention span can suffer. By just taking a few minutes to meditate daily, you can help restore your focus and attention. Plus, regular meditation is like doing a workout for your attention span. How good!

4. improves sleep

If you’re anything like me, sleep is non-negotiable, so there’s honestly nothing more frustrating than not being able to fall asleep. Meditation allows your body to enter a peaceful state by releasing tension and helping you control those racing thoughts we can get from time to time which make it hard to get to sleep.

5. anytime, anywhere
The beauty of meditation means you can practise it in a matter of minutes, anywhere and anytime. This is made even easier with the help of some amazing apps that guide you through different types of meditation, depending on your preference. Some of my favourites include Headspace, Smiling Mind and Calm.

I love you,
