THE IMPORTANCE OF HAVING A STRONG CORE.

Having a strong core is crucial for overall physical health and well-being. The core muscles are the central muscles of your body, located in your abdomen, lower back, and pelvis. They not only provide stability and support for almost all of your body's movements, but they also play a significant role in various aspects of health and fitness.

We have listed below some of the main reasons why having a strong core is so important:

Posture: A strong core helps you maintain good posture. Proper posture reduces the risk of developing musculoskeletal problems and prevents back pain.

Balance and stability: Your core muscles are essential for balance and stability which can help you to perform activities like standing on one leg, walking, and various athletic movements more effectively.

Injury prevention: A strong core can help prevent injuries as it stabilises your spine and reduces the risk of overuse injuries in your lower back, hips, and pelvis.

Improved athletic performance: Athletes in various sports, from weightlifting to gymnastics to running, benefit from a strong core. It enhances their ability to generate power, control their movements, and maintain stability during dynamic activities.

Everyday activities: Core strength is essential for everyday tasks like lifting groceries, carrying children, and even sitting at a desk. It reduces the strain on your lower back when performing these activities.

Breathing and digestion: Your core muscles are involved in breathing and aid in digestion by providing stability for the organs in your abdominal area.

Pilates is an incredible method for building core strength because it focuses specifically on developing and strengthening the muscles of the core, so if you are wanting to work on strengthening this area, try out our range of classes that are suitable for all fitness levels and can be completed in the comfort of your own home!

Just wanted to acknowledge what a great platform this is. At the age of 60 I started your classes (with encouragement from my daughter who also uses them) and now at 62, I’m feeling the strongest I’ve felt for a very long time. I love that I can do the classes in the privacy of my own home – at a time that suits me – and can easily modify to suit my needs.
Keep doing what you’re doing 😊😊
    Love and much appreciation
